Biography
Robert Möllard is a self-taught, Stockholm-based painter with formal studies in engineering and architecture. Möllard looks at the world with a direct, naive gaze, moving between observation, memory and imagination, in paintings on canvas as well as directly on walls and objects. The works are mostly figurative, mainly in acrylic and oilstick, and all of them begin with looking closely and finding the right state of mind.
His solo exhibition Arcadian Landscapes in Palma de Mallorca was curated by Roland-Philippe Kretzschmar, The Art Bystander, who also wrote the exhibition text. In collaboration with MINI and Vogue Scandinavia, he and his sister, the artist Madelen Möllard, painted a MINI art car live at The Aurora concours in Båstad. He has also collaborated with the Scotch whisky house The Macallan, creating artwork for the launch dinner and tasting of its reimagined collections.
His work has appeared in Architectural Digest, Elle Decoration UK and Robb Report, and is held by collectors in Stockholm, Munich, London, Istanbul and Los Angeles.
