MINI Art Car
In 2025, Robert Möllard and his sister Madelen Möllard painted the MINI Art Car live at The Aurora concours in Båstad, Sweden. A collaboration with MINI (BMW Group) and Vogue Scandinavia: a moving landscape in acrylic, painted by hand in a single day.
For The Aurora 2025, an annual car and lifestyle event in Båstad, Sweden, MINI and Vogue Scandinavia invited Robert Möllard and his sister, the artist Madelen Möllard, to transform a white MINI Cooper into a painted, drivable work of art. The MINI Art Car became a duo work in the fullest sense: one image, four hands, developed and executed together.
The painting began long before the event. The image was developed as sketches and on painted toy cars in their Stockholm studio, then road-tested by driving the blank car from Stockholm to their hometown of Karlshamn. The finished work captures the feeling of driving through a landscape rather than the landscape itself: a Nordic terrain of fields, flowers and shifting light, unfolding across every surface of the car. The terrain is Swedish, though not entirely faithful: palm trees appear where Sweden has none. At The Aurora, the siblings painted live over roughly six hours in front of an audience, turning the making itself into part of the work.
